Nicholas Quarrier PT DPT OCS
Dr Quarrier is a clinical associate professor of physical therapy at Ithaca College. For well over 20 years he has developed a specialty in treating musicians with music-related injuries. He grew up playing the french horn, trumpet and guitar as well as playing many sports. Becoming a physical therapist, he began his career working with athletes and later moved to Ithaca where his practice had few sports athletes but many "walking wounded" instrumentalists. He began thinking of the musician as an athlete too and attended various conferences learning as much as he could about music injuries.
At Ithaca, his career and musical interest grew. Early on, an elective music injury course in the School of Music was developed and The Healthy Musicians Workshop was designed - a 3-5 day intensive workshop for musicians and health care providers.
Over the years, he has researched and published a variety of articles on musician's health, lectured throughout the country and consulted/treated many musicians. Weekly walk-in clinics are held where musicians seek consultation and help for musculoskeletal injuries.
Presently, The Healthy Musicians Workshop is on a hiatus and Nick is developing this website to help educate musicians about the prevention and care of music-related injuries.
He holds a doctoral degree in physical therapy from Washington University School of Medicine and is a board certified orthopedic specialist.
